01Who we are

A club built by the community, for the community.

West Lothian Flames Basketball is a brand-new, not-for-profit basketball club in Winchburgh — developing inclusive, affordable sessions for children, young people and adults, run entirely by volunteers who love the game and the town.

Basketball experience is helpful and valuable for coaching, but not essential. Enthusiasm and a passion for helping young people in sport are what matter most.

Things parents ask us.

Didn't see your question? Drop us a line — we read every message and reply within a couple of days.

Drop-in sessions are £3 for Mini Flames, £4 for Youth Squad and £5 for adult Open Court. Your first session is always free — we want every kid to be able to try basketball before anyone signs anything.

Not at all. The majority of our players are total beginners. Coaches build sessions around the group in the room — drills are scaled so first-timers and returning players both get a workout.

Comfortable clothes, indoor trainers and a water bottle. We provide basketballs, bibs and any other kit. Don't worry about brand-new gear.

Yes. All coaches are PVG-checked (Scotland's safeguarding scheme) before they're allowed on court with players, and we follow Basketball Scotland's child-protection policies.

Yes — but it helps if you let us know first so a coach can meet you. Email westlothianflames@gmail.com or fill in the form below and we'll confirm a slot for your first session.

All sessions are at Winchburgh Community Growing Centre (CGC). It's a five-minute walk from the train station and there's free parking on-site.
